REvive MPPT Boost is a solar charger designed for charging batteries from Solar panels having Voltage less than the Battery Voltage. Example application is in E-Rickshaws. By keeping the batteries charged and delivering power through the day, Solar addition in E-Rickshaws has the potential to increase the income from E-Rickshaws. The E-Rickshaw’s productive hours, the useful run time of the Rickshaw increases with utilization of Solar Power.

E-rickshaws come with constraints on the space available to mount Solar panels. In the limited space available on the roof, it is possible to fit one 72 Cell panel (size 1M x 1.9M). Commonly available 72 cell panels come with an Open Circuit Voltage of ~44 to 46V. This Voltage is lesser than the Battery system Voltage of 48V DC. With REvive MPPT Boost, it is now possible to connect a single standard 72cell panel (24V panel in market parlance) to charge the 48V battery system instead of using ‘Cut’ cell panels that have higher input Voltage compared to the battery Voltage. Standard panels cost less per Wp compared to Cut cell PV panels which results in lower initial investment using REvive MPPT Boost.

REvive MPPT Boost uses advanced Maximum Power Point tracking to deliver maximum possible power from the panels under exacting and continuously varying conditions. The high efficiency converter converts the input Voltage at Maximum Power Point to output Battery Voltage. The charger enhances the availability of usable energy for the E-Rickshaw by continuously delivering power to the batteries and the motor when Solar energy is available. Periodic full scan of the IV curve by the charger makes sure the output is extracted at the global MPP point – even under partial shadow conditions.

REvive MPPT Boost uses three stage battery charging: Bulk, Absorb and Float. When loads are running, the charger will deliver the power from Solar PV that is available after servicing the loads to the batteries based on the stage of Battery charging.

Four-digit, 7 Segment LED display

A simple display to show the instantaneous Solar and Battery parameters Viz. Solar Output Current, Solar Output Power, Battery Voltage and Internal Heat sink temperature.

IP43 equivalent enclosure with multiple mounting options

The enclosure is protected against accidental splashing of water and is meant to be used in E-Rickshaws mounted under roof the Rickshaw.
